DELTA TEACHERS REJECT LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Image result for nigeria union of teachers logoThe Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Delta State Chapter has called on the State House of Assembly to reject a bill aimed at transferring the payment of primary school teachers to local government councils along the demand for local government autonomy across the country. 

These where the demands of the Union as they staged a peaceful demonstration to the Assembly complex in Asaba chantting the Union solidarity songs, carrying different placards with various inscriptions. 
The state chairman of the Union, Comrade Titus Okotie whom led the demonstrators said that the funding of primary education should remain the responsibility of state governments or federal government through first line charge. 
Responding to their demands, the speaker of the state House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori States the position of the house on the bill revealing that the bill has not be sent to the house and assured them that the house will always legislate good bills to better the lives of Deltans.
