Effurrun Army Barracks Land Dispute: Reps hand ultimatum to Army

The House of Representatives Public Petitions committee has handed the Nigerian Army 72 hours to produce the land documents and plan  for the 333 battalion Army Barracks, Effurrun, Delta State.

Following a public hearing in Abuja on Wednesday President General of Uvwie Kingdom Chief Austin Ukwurere in a telephone interview on Thursday said the land dispute between the kingdom and the Army will soon be resolved as the committee is set to submit its report.
Recall that the Kingdom accused the army of annexing and selling lands outside the area originally giving to it by the kingdom.

Delta State Govt Announce Monthly Environmental Sanitation to hold Saturday

The Delta State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for October will hold across the state on Saturday, October 25, 2025 , between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Information in Asaba, both vehicular and human movements will be restricted during the period of the exercise. Residents have been urged to clean their surroundings, cut overgrown weeds, desilt drains, and ensure proper waste disposal to prevent disease outbreaks. The statement reminded Deltans that it is their civic responsibility to keep at least a 20-metre radius around their premises clean. The Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Jamani Tommy Ejiro , will lead officials of the Ministry and other relevant agencies to monitor the exercise across the state to ensure full compliance.
