A Chieftain of the People's Democratic party PDP in Delta state chief Onome Benson, says athletes and sports enthusiast in Warri and environs are set to have a quality stadium and training facility, following the soon to commence rehabilitation of the Warri City stadium by the Delta State Government.

Governor Sheriff Oborewovori, on Tuesday hosted the technical head of Julius Berger, a leading engineering construction company at his office in Asaba where he was the presented with the blueprint for the rehabilitation of the Warri City Stadium.

Chief Onome in a chat with newsmen on Wednesday in Warri,hailed Oborewovri for awarding the rehabilitation job to Julius Berger Construction company,a decision he said that points the governor's taste for high quality jobs that will serve the people.

He added that project upon completion will attract major sporting events to the area,positively impacting local businesses, provide opportunities locals and good platform for your young talents to horny their skills.

The Warri Stadium, a multi-purpose stadium with a 20,000-seat capacity, has been in disrepair. The previous administration had awarded a contract for its renovation, but the project was revoked due to non-performance by the contractor.

Delta State Govt Announce Monthly Environmental Sanitation to hold Saturday

The Delta State Government has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for October will hold across the state on Saturday, October 25, 2025 , between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Information in Asaba, both vehicular and human movements will be restricted during the period of the exercise. Residents have been urged to clean their surroundings, cut overgrown weeds, desilt drains, and ensure proper waste disposal to prevent disease outbreaks. The statement reminded Deltans that it is their civic responsibility to keep at least a 20-metre radius around their premises clean. The Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Jamani Tommy Ejiro , will lead officials of the Ministry and other relevant agencies to monitor the exercise across the state to ensure full compliance.
