Youth President of Okere Urhobo Kingdom Discredits "Unauthorized" Press Conference on Delineation Report
Wari, April 9, 2025 —
The Youth President of Okere-urhobo-Kingdom, Hon. Eboh Okpako Elvis, has strongly denounced a recent press conference held by Hon. Matthew Poko Oporu, Chief Jude Onovughe Igherebo and others labeling it a "shameful" and "unauthorized" attempt tospeak for the Okere Urhobo people on the proposed delineation report released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Speaking at a media briefing on Tuesday in Warri,Hon. Eboh alongside other other stakeholders in the kingdom asserted that the press conference in question does not reflect the stance of the recognized leadership and stakeholders of Okere-urhobo-Kingdom, Wari.
He described the organizers as “political jobbers” and accused them of attempting to mislead the public for self-serving interests.
"As the youth president of Okerebo Kingdom, Wari, I have it on good authority that the constituted leadership of the kingdom has not made any official statement regarding the delineation report presented on April 4th, 2025," Hon. Eboh said.
"We are still carefully studying the document and will make our collective position known in due time."
He further criticized the individuals behind the press conference, claiming they were absent during the critical stages of last year’s delineation exercise. "They were nowhere to be found when we braved the elements to ensure proper representation of our communities. Now they surface with half-baked narratives," he remarked.
Hon. Ebo emphasized that are working in synergy to address concerns raised in the INEC proposal.
He also noted that a one-week review window is currently open, during which the kingdom will finalize its stance.
“We are an organized kingdom. We don’t act on impulse or operate haphazardly,” he stated, urging the public to disregard any claims made in the said press conference that lack the backing of the kingdom's legitimate authority.
He concluded by reaffirming the commitment of the Okere-urhobo-kingdom leadership to present a unified and informed response in due course, cautioning against the spread of misinformation.
“Those parading false narratives are only trying to please their paymasters. Their actions do not reflect the will of our peopl
e,” he said.
